Top Coat Dull = matt-original (OEM-Look), Glossy = mittlerer Glanz, High Gloss = hoher Glanz.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Audi: the original standard colour for factory-true leather repairs

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Audi? — This colour-matched leather standard colour lets you do original-true colour refreshes and repairs on Audi leather, for a lasting, even, factory-typical finish.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Audi) is a precisely matched leather standard colour for the professional repair, refresh and re-dyeing of Audi leather interiors. The colours are built from original Audi colour samples and formulated to blend cleanly into existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door cards and any pigmented smooth leather in the cabin where colour accuracy and an OEM look make the difference.

Original Audi shades – Developed from factory-near colour samples.
For repair & refresh – Ideal for wear, fading and colour loss.
Professional finish – Great adhesion and an even colour result.

💡 Day-to-day from Detailing1: With Audi interiors we keep seeing the same thing — faded colour on seat bolsters and steering wheels gets masked with a cheap care spray that doesn't last four weeks. Lay Leather Colour (Audi) down with a microfibre pad in 2–3 thin coats, let it dry 30 min between coats, then seal it with Top Coat Dull — and the result holds up like factory for 2–3 years.

Prep, dab on thin, seal with Top Coat

You lay Leather Colour (Audi) on in 2–3 thin coats, with 30 min drying between coats, and seal at the end with Top Coat. Thin coats last for years; thick coats crack.

Before you dye, wash the leather with leather cleaner and degrease it with Plastic Cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Fill deep cracks and abrasion marks with Filler or Super Filler and sand them smooth with a 1000-grit pad. Then you dab the Audi shades on with a microfibre pad, work them in with a soft brush, or spray them on for larger repairs.

Once it's fully dry — at least 4 hours — seal with Top Coat: Dull for a matt, original OEM look, Glossy for a medium sheen, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers about 8–10 m² of leather; a 250 ml bottle is enough for a full pair of seats plus the steering wheel. The same workflow works for every part, from the seat cushion through the door card to the centre armrest.

Pigmented leather yes, natural leather and suede no

Leather Colour (Audi) is for pigmented smooth leather only — the standard in modern automotive interiors. Natural leather, aniline leather and suede behave differently and need other COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formula bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, stays elastic and moves with the leather without cracking. On natural or open-pore aniline leather the colour soaks into the fibre unevenly and stains the leather blotchy — that's where Leather Fresh (Audi) as the care option or dedicated aniline lines come in. Suede, velour and Alcantara get treated with Nubuk Fresh (Audi), which keeps the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it shut.

If colour accuracy to the original factory shade matters and you're restoring a part over a large area, Leather Colour is the right call. If you only need to fix a small spot (steering-wheel wear, a single crack), Fluid Leather (Audi) in the 20 ml tube goes further and works more precisely. If the leather just looks a bit faded, Leather Fresh as the care option is usually enough.

For detailers, workshops and classic- and youngtimer owners

Leather Colour (Audi) is the professional choice for detailers, independent workshops and committed owners who put value retention and original Audi colour accuracy ahead of quick care fixes.

With lease returns, used-car preps and classic- and youngtimer restorations, OEM colour accuracy decides value retention and resale price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, dye, seal) takes 4 hours including drying per part and delivers a result that holds up like factory for 2–3 years. One litre of Leather Colour works out at about 30 cents per 100 ml of treated area — a trade calc including Top Coat lands around 12 euros per part.

For pure care routines without trade tools, Leather Colour is overkill — Leather Fresh (Audi) does the job there. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or single cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Audi) are more economical. But if you want to restore full seat bolsters, steering wheels or door cards and you care about original Audi colour accuracy, there's no getting around the 1-litre bottle or the 250 ml size.

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Audi?

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Audi) is a water-based, elastic leather standard dye in original Audi shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recoloring pigmented smooth leather in the vehicle interior — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.

How do I properly apply Leather Colour (Audi)?

First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with Filler. Then, dab, wipe, or spray on thin layers of Leather Colour — 2-3 thin coats are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).

What is the difference to Leather Fresh?

Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, sealable with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the conditioning color cream (1L/100ml) for lighter touch-ups without extensive preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.

Do the colors really exactly match Audi?

The color shades are based on original Audi factory color samples. For heavily faded leather, we still recommend a color test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather darkens or fades over the years.

What are the most common mistakes we see in the workshop?

Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — paint does not adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks when drying. (3) Top coat sealing omitted — abrasion resistance under 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2-3 years.

Do I absolutely need a Top Coat?

Yes, for lasting abrasion resistance. Without a Top Coat, the color on seat bolsters and steering wheels will rub off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matte-original (OEM look), Glossy = medium gloss, High Gloss = high gloss.

Care instructions for Leather Colour (Audi):

Leather Colour (Audi) is only suitable for pigmented smooth leather - the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather and suede react differently and require different COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, remains elastic and accommodates leather movements without cracking. For natural leather or open-pore aniline leather, the dye penetrates the fibres unevenly and stains the leather - in these cases, Leather Fresh (Audi) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Audi), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it together.

If colour fidelity to the original factory colour is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Audi) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
