COLOURLOCK "Leather Fresh" (VW) — VW leather color restorer

COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh for VW: nourishing color cream for factory-true refreshment

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh for VW? — The water-based leather care dye combines care and light color refreshment — ideal for regularly used VW leather interiors without extensive pre-treatment.

COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh (VW) is a pigmented leather care dye that nourishes and at the same time compensates for slight color loss in one step. The care dye is based on original VW color samples and is formulated to blend harmoniously into existing surfaces. Perfect for regular care of pigmented smooth leather without the effort of a complete repair.

Care & color in one – Saves a step — nourishes and refreshes at the same time.
Original VW color shades – Factory-true color samples for seamless transitions.
Quick and uncomplicated – No sanding, no top coat absolutely necessary.

💡 Practical tip from the Detailing1 workshop: We use Leather Fresh in our workshop as a standard care product for every detailing — even if the leather still looks okay. 100ml is enough for a complete pair of seats including the steering wheel. Wet a microfiber pad evenly, work in circular motions, polish with a second pad. Looks like new after 5 minutes.

Care routine in 15 minutes per pair of seats

Leather Fresh (VW) is applied as a care routine every 6–12 months — work in with a microfiber pad, polish with a second pad, done. One application takes about 15–20 minutes per pair of seats.

Before application, the leather is washed with leather cleaner and wiped damp. After a short drying time, a microfiber pad is moistened with about 3–5 ml of Leather Fresh (VW) and worked evenly onto the leather surface in circular motions. Immediately polish with a second dry microfiber pad until the typical matt-velvety OEM shine appears.

The water-based care dye penetrates the uppermost pigment layer and simultaneously seals the fiber. Unlike professional Leather Colour (VW) repair, neither filler nor sanding or top coat are absolutely necessary. For heavily used areas such as seat bolsters or steering wheels, Top Coat can also be applied, which extends the durability to 18–24 months. A 100 ml bottle is sufficient for about 2–3 complete care applications.

Care yes, repair of deep damage no

Leather Fresh (VW) is the care variant for minor optical defects — faded shine, dull areas, superficial color loss. Deep abrasion or cracks require the repair stage.

The care dye is formulated to penetrate and refresh the intact pigment layer. However, if the layer is worn through or there are cracks, Leather Fresh cannot cover the damaged area — the fiber becomes visible there and absorbs the color unevenly. Suede, velour leather and Alcantara are cared for with Nubuk Fresh (VW), as their rough fiber structure requires a different carrier solution.

If the leather only looks faded or dull, Leather Fresh is the fastest and cheapest solution — about 4–5 Euros per care application. If, on the other hand, there are deep abrasions or cracks, Leather Colour (VW) with filler and top coat is used. Both products are based on the same original VW color samples and can be combined.

For regular care without workshop tools

Leather Fresh (VW) is the care solution for private customers, frequent drivers and leasing holders who want to regularly refresh their VW leather — without sanding, fillers or workshop tools.

The simple application in 15 minutes per pair of seats makes Leather Fresh the standard care for every interior detailing. Anyone who cares for their VW vehicle two to three times a year will keep the leather looking like new and prevent the typical signs of wear on seat bolsters and the steering wheel. A 1-liter bottle is sufficient for about 30–50 complete care cycles for a mid-range vehicle.

For heavily used seats with visible abrasion or for a complete detailing before sale, use Leather Colour (VW) or the Leather Care Set (VW) with all components. However, if you want to care regularly instead of restoring, the 100 ml bottle or the 1-liter container of Leather Fresh is sufficient.

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh for VW?

COLOURLOCK Leather Fresh (VW) is a pigmented leather care dye in original VW colors. It cares for the leather, refreshes minor color loss, and seals the fibers — all in one step.

How often should I apply Leather Fresh?

As a care routine, we recommend Leather Fresh (VW) every 6–12 months. For heavily used vehicles (frequent drivers, lease returns), also every 3–6 months. One application takes approx. 15–20 min per pair of seats.

What is the difference to Leather Colour?

Leather Fresh is the simple care variant — no sanding, no top coat mandatory. Leather Colour (VW) is the professional repair with filler, sanding, and top coat sealing. For visible damage → Leather Colour; for dull/slightly faded surfaces → Leather Fresh.

Do I absolutely need a top coat?

No, not absolutely. Leather Fresh has its own sealing function. However, for heavily stressed areas (seat bolsters, steering wheel), an additional Top Coat Dull or Glossy is worthwhile for maximum abrasion resistance.

What are the most common mistakes we see?

Two classics: (1) Leather not cleaned beforehand — care absorbs unevenly. (2) Too thick a layer applied — appears sticky and remains greasy. Better 2 thin layers than 1 thick.

Does Leather Fresh also work on natural leather?

No, Leather Fresh is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather (standard in the automotive sector). For natural leather, aniline leather or suede, there are separate COLOURLOCK product lines.

Care instructions for leather dye (VW):

Leather Fresh (VW) is the care option for minor cosmetic imperfections — faded shine, dull spots, superficial color loss. Deeper abrasions or cracks require the repair stage.

The care dye is formulated to penetrate and refresh the intact pigment layer. However, if the layer is worn through or if there are cracks, Leather Fresh cannot cover the damaged area — the fibers will become visible and absorb the color unevenly. Suede, nubuck leather, and Alcantara are cared for with Nubuk Fresh (VW), as their rough fiber structure requires a different carrier solution.

If the leather only appears faded or dull, Leather Fresh is the quickest and most affordable solution — about 4–5 Euros per application. If, on the other hand, there are deep abrasions or cracks, Leather Colour (VW) with filler and top coat is used. Both products are based on the same original VW color samples and can be combined.
