COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh for Audi: Specialized Suede and Velour Leather Care

What is COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh for Audi? — This specialized suede and nubuck care maintains the texture and color of rough natural leathers in Audi interiors — specially developed for velour, nubuck, and Alcantara.

COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh (Audi) is a special care dye for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour surfaces in Audi leather interiors. Unlike Leather Colour or Leather Fresh, Nubuk Fresh is not intended for smooth pigmented leather — the formulation is designed to preserve the fine fiber structure of suede and prevent it from sticking together.

Suede-specific – Specially formulated for rough-textured natural leathers.
Maintains velour appearance – Prevents fibers from sticking or smoothing out.
Original Audi color tones – Factory-like pigmentation for seamless care.

💡 Practical Tip from Detailing1 Workshop: With Audi suede seats, we often see the same user error — customers treat the suede with normal smooth leather care, which causes the fibers to stick together and look flattened. With Nubuk Fresh (Audi) and a fine brass brush in a 5-minute care routine, the typical velour look is maintained. After drying, brush lightly again — then the fibers will be soft and stand up again.

Dry brush, spray, work in the direction of the fibers

Nubuk Fresh (Audi) is sprayed evenly onto the suede from a distance of 20–30 cm with a spray bottle and worked into the direction of the fibers with a soft brush. After drying, brush again for the typical velour look.

Before care, the suede is dry-brushed with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush to remove dust and ingrained dirt. Then, it is damp-cleaned with a special suede cleaner and allowed to dry completely. Only then is Nubuk Fresh (Audi) sprayed from a distance of 20–30 cm — no puddling, distribute immediately.

The color is worked in with a soft suede brush or fine brass brush in the direction of the fibers until the pigmentation is evenly distributed. After 30–45 minutes of drying, the leather is lightly brushed again so that the fibers stand up and the typical velvety-matte velour look is created. A 250 ml bottle is sufficient for approximately 4–5 care applications for mid-range vehicles with an Alcantara steering wheel and suede seats.

Suede and velour yes, smooth leather no

Nubuk Fresh (Audi) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leathers — suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented Audi smooth leathers are treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes combines with the rough fiber structure without sticking or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuk Fresh would adhere unevenly because the typical fiber structure is missing — the care would look patchy instead of even. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are needed.

If the Audi vehicle has real suede seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuk Fresh is the only correct care. If the interior consists of pigmented smooth leather, on the other hand, Leather Fresh (Audi) or Leather Colour (Audi) is used. For mixed equipment (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.

For suede seats and Alcantara steering wheels

Nubuk Fresh (Audi) is the care solution for owners and detailers with genuine suede or Alcantara components — applied every 6–12 months, the leather remains velvety and color-stable permanently.

Suede and velour leather get dirty faster than smooth leather and fade more strongly under UV light. The care routine every 6–12 months prevents deep penetration of dirt and protects the fibers from permanent fading. For heavily used vehicles or family cars, a 3-month rhythm is also worthwhile. One application takes about 45 minutes per pair of seats, including brushing and drying — costs per application are around 6 euros in material costs.

For pigmented smooth leather components in the same vehicle, Leather Fresh (Audi) is used — both products complement each other in the workflow. Those looking for a complete care bundle for suede and smooth leather can also check out the Leather Care Set (Audi), which contains both components.

What is COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh for Audi?

COLOURLOCK Nubuk Fresh (Audi) is a specialized recolouring product for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour surfaces in Audi interiors. It preserves structure and color without matting the fibers.

Does Nubuk Fresh also work on smooth leather?

No, Nubuk Fresh is exclusively formulated for rough-textured suede, nubuck, and velour. On pigmented smooth leather, it would appear uneven – for those surfaces, Leather Colour or Leather Fresh (Audi) are used.

How do I apply Nubuk Fresh correctly?

First, dry brush the suede and clean with a suede cleaner. Spray Nubuk Fresh evenly from a distance of 20–30 cm. Work it in with a soft suede brush or a fine brass brush. Let it dry, then brush again for a velvety look.

How often should I apply suede care?

As a care routine, every 6–12 months. For frequent drivers, family vehicles, or lease returns, also every 3–6 months, as suede gets dirty and fades faster than smooth leather.

What are the most common mistakes we see?

Three classics: (1) Using smooth leather care on suede – fibers become matted. (2) Not dusting/brushing beforehand – color becomes uneven. (3) Not re-brushing after drying – velour look remains flat.

Do I need special brushes?

Yes, a soft suede brush (crepe/natural rubber) or a fine brass brush is essential. Normal cleaning cloths would press down the fibers instead of lifting them. Brushes are available from us as accessories.

Care instructions for suede (Audi):

Nubuk Fresh (Audi) is exclusively for rough-textured natural leather – suede, nubuck, velour, and Alcantara. Pigmented Audi smooth leather is treated with Leather Colour or Leather Fresh.

The special carrier solution with finely pigmented dyes bonds with the rough fiber structure without sticking or weighing it down. On smooth pigmented leather, Nubuk Fresh would adhere unevenly, as the typical fiber structure is absent – the care would appear blotchy rather than even. On aniline leather, the fiber would not be sufficiently protected; here, aniline-specific COLOURLOCK lines are required.

If the Audi vehicle has genuine suede seats, an Alcantara steering wheel, or velour door panels, Nubuk Fresh is the only correct care product. If the interior consists of pigmented smooth leather, however, Leather Fresh (Audi) or Leather Colour (Audi) is used. For mixed upholstery (suede seats, smooth leather doors), both products are used in parallel.
