Precisely Dose Concentrates with the Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap Scale
What is the Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap? A 270mm dip tube cap with a 20ml measuring scale in 5ml increments for precise dosing of concentrates directly from the Koch-Chemie 1-liter bottle. Not suitable for products containing acids or solvents and does not fit canisters larger than 5 liters.
Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap is a dosing cap from Koch-Chemie (Item No. 9998149), which features an integrated 270mm dip tube and a transparent measuring scale from 5 to 20 milliliters in 5ml increments. It replaces the standard cap on 1-liter concentrate bottles and transforms each bottle into a pressure-operated dosing dispenser — no measuring cup, no splashes on the workbench, no wet labels.

- Scale in 5ml increments up to 20 milliliters. One squeeze of the bottle, the concentrate rises through the 270mm dip tube into the clear measuring neck. You read the amount and pour it directly into the spray bottle — for a Pol Star Po dilution of 1:10, that's exactly 10 milliliters and not "about a good splash" that you won't be able to reproduce for the next bucket wash.
- Dip tube can be shortened for 500ml bottles. The tube is factory-set at 270 millimeters, perfectly sized for the standard Koch-Chemie 1-liter container. For 500ml spray containers, you can shorten it with scissors to about 175 millimeters — the same cap will then work on the smaller bottles, saving you from a second purchase and a second shelf space.
- Lifespan of 100+ applications. For alkaline products and car shampoos, the plastic typically lasts several years in practice — for a weekly Pol Star wash, that's a good two years of use. Calculated against the purchase price of 3.49 euros, the dosing cost is under 4 cents per application. For a tool that saves between 5 and 15 milliliters of concentrate per wash, this is a purchase with a two-week amortization period.
Detailing1 Pro Tip: Two mistakes will compromise the scale's accuracy. First mistake: pressing the bottle too hard — the concentrate shoots past the 20ml mark. Instead, press briefly and stop at the mark. Second mistake: not opening the small outlet flap at the top before pouring — then a vacuum pulls the liquid back, the bottle crackles, and the pouring becomes uneven. Manufacturer's instruction: "Open cap when dispensing." So always open the flap first, then pour.
Screw on. Compress. Read on the scale.
The Dosing Cap is screwed onto the 1-liter concentrate bottle, the bottle is briefly squeezed sideways — the concentrate rises through the 270mm dip tube into the clear measuring neck and stops at the desired 5ml mark.
In detail, it works like this: unscrew the original cap, insert the Dosing Cap with the dip tube into the bottle, screw it on tightly clockwise. Hold the bottle upright, gently squeeze it on the long sides with both hands — you don't need much force, a controlled compression of about one centimeter is enough. As soon as the concentrate reaches the first 5ml mark, release the pressure. If you need more, just press briefly again.
Specific quantities from practice: For a Pol Star Po dilution of 1:10 for upholstery cleaning, you dose 10 milliliters and add them to 90 milliliters of warm water. For Green Star "Gs" as a pre-cleaner, you dilute 1:5, which is 20 milliliters of concentrate in 80 milliliters of water — a full scale filling. For Active Foam "Af" in the foam lance container, 1:20 is common, so 5 milliliters per 100 milliliters of water. With the 5ml resolution, you are spot-on for each of these three standard mixtures.
When pouring, open the small flap at the top, tilt the bottle, and let the measured concentrate flow into your empty HDPE spray bottle or mixing container. Fill with water, attach the spray head, done. Those who mix several dilutions per session save themselves the measuring cup and the residual amount in the cup, which would otherwise either be spilled or poured away.

Alkaline and Shampoo: yes. Acids and Solvents: no.
The Dosing Cap is expressly approved by the manufacturer for alkaline cleaning concentrates and car shampoos. Acids and solvents attack the plastic of the scale over time — this is the most important application limit.
Specifically, this means: In the Koch-Chemie range, the cap fits the alkaline all-purpose cleaners Green Star "Gs", All-purpose cleaner "Mzr" and Allround Surface Cleaner "Asc", on pre-cleaners Pre-Foam efficient "Pfe" and Pre-Wash B "Pb", on Active Foam "Af" for the foam lance, on the Car Shampoo "As", the NanoMagicShampoo "Nms" as well as on the upholstery care Pol Star "Po" and the plastic care concentrates. This covers about eighty percent of the typical Koch-Chemie detailing workflow.
However, the cap is not suitable for Triple Acid Star "Ta" and other acidic wheel cleaners, for Reactive Rust Remover "Rrr", Magic Wheel Cleaner "Mwc" as well as for solvent-based products such as Spot Remover "Fw" or Tar Remover. Acids soften the scale markings, solvents can make the plastic brittle — in both cases, you lose measurement accuracy after a few applications. For these products, stick to the original cap or work with a measuring cup.
The second clear limitation is the container. The dip tube is designed for 270 millimeters and thus fits the standard 1-liter Koch-Chemie bottle and, after shortening, the 500ml spray containers. It does not fit the 5-liter, 10-liter, and 25-liter canisters — these have a different cap diameter and too great a height for the dip tube.
If you want to dose directly from a 5-liter canister, you need a different solution like the CarPro Measure Cap, which screws onto 28/400 threaded spray bottles and works on the principle of decanting, rather than dosing directly from the bulk container.

Anyone who doses Koch-Chemie concentrates needs it.
The Dosing Cap pays for itself from the second concentrate on the shelf. If you have Pol Star, Green Star, and Pre-Foam in 1-liter bottles, you mix two to three dilutions per detailing session — eyeballing costs more concentrate over the year than the cap itself.
Target group-wise, this breaks down into three profiles. For the hobby detailer with two or three concentrate bottles, the cap is a one-time 3.49 Euro expense that ensures the reproducibility of their mixtures — the 1:10 dilution is really 1:10 next time and not "a bit too weak" or "a bit too foamy."
For the semi-pro and workshop detailer who mixes several dilutions daily, the cap saves concentrate — a rough 15ml estimate instead of a measured 10ml dose quickly adds up to two to three liters of Pol Star too much over a season. The cap is less useful if you only use a single pre-mixed spray product and don't dilute any concentrates at all — then you simply don't need it.
In the Detailing1 shelf, a complete concentrate mixing system is created from three components: The Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap on the concentrate bottle, the HDPE Cylinder Bottle 1 Liter as a mixing container, and the "Star" spray head with spray bottle as a complete set. You dose from the concentrate into the HDPE bottle, fill with water, assemble the spray head — three steps, a reproducible mixture, no measuring cup in the sink. In total, you pay less than twelve euros for the system and save yourself the purchase of every additional individual spray bottle component.
If you mix several concentrates alternately, label the HDPE bottle with a waterproof marker at the bottom: dilution and date. Sounds trivial, but in the workshop, that's what distinguishes a reproducible workflow from a "don't quite remember what's in here" mixture.
The Dosing Cap itself remains on the concentrate bottle, the spray head remains on the HDPE bottle — only the concentrate is changed, and measurement is always done on the same 5ml scale. This is the one Detailing1 tip that has nothing to do with the product and everything to do with the routine around it: standardization beats improvisation, every time.
The few buyer reviews for the cap confirm the most important point in the product's logic: the precise fit on the Koch-Chemie 1-liter bottles. Verified buyers calmly report that the cap "fits," which is all that matters for a dip tube system with fixed length specifications.
The real Detailing1 added value is not in the cap, but in the discipline. Once you've dosed with a 5ml scale, you'll never eyeball again — and only then do you realize how much concentrate was previously wasted in the bucket water because a 1:5 dilution was actually 1:3 and the whole liter of Pol Star was used up after 8 washes instead of 20.

Frequently Asked Questions about the Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap
What is the Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap?
The Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap (Item 9998149) is a dosing cap with a 270mm dip tube and a transparent measuring scale in 5ml increments up to 20ml. It replaces the original cap on Koch-Chemie's 1-liter concentrate bottles and allows for precise measurement of dilution quantities directly from the bottle.
How do I use the Dosing Cap correctly?
Unscrew the original cap from the 1-liter bottle, then screw on the Dosing Cap with the dip tube. Hold the bottle upright and gently squeeze the long sides with both hands – the concentrate will rise through the dip tube into the measuring neck. Release pressure at the desired 5ml mark. Before pouring, open the small flap at the top, otherwise a vacuum will form.
What is the difference to the CarPro Measure Cap?
The Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap works with a 270mm dip tube directly from the storage bottle. The CarPro Measure Cap sits on 28/400 threaded spray bottles and doses via screw compression without a dip tube. If you use Koch-Chemie 1-liter concentrates, you need the Dosing Cap. If you transfer from 28/400 bottles, you need the Measure Cap.
Which bottles does the Dosing Cap fit?
Factory-fitted to all Koch-Chemie 1-liter standard bottles with a 270mm dip tube height. For 500ml spray containers, the dip tube is shortened to approximately 175mm with scissors. Not suitable for 5-liter, 10-liter, and 25-liter canisters, or for 28/400 threaded spray bottles from other manufacturers.
What happens if I fill it with acid or solvent?
Acidic wheel cleaners like Triple Acid Star "Ta" or Reactive Rust Remover "Rrr" will soften the scale markings over time. Solvent-based products like Fleckenwasser "Fw" can make the plastic brittle. Measuring accuracy will be lost after a few applications. The cap is exclusively approved for alkaline concentrates and car shampoos.
How accurate is the 5ml scale in practice?
The 5ml resolution allows for precise dosing up to dilutions of 1:50 with good reproducibility. For standard mixtures like Pol Star 1:10 (10 ml) or Active Foam 1:20 (5 ml), you will be right on the mark. For very fine dosages under 5 ml, a pipette or a measuring cup with a 1 ml scale is recommended – the Dosing Cap is not designed for this.
Using the Koch-Chemie Dosing Cap
Screw on, compress, read, pour
Unscrew the original cap from the Koch-Chemie 1-liter concentrate bottle counter-clockwise and set it aside. Insert the dosing cap's dip tube vertically into the bottle opening – it is 270 millimeters long and extends just above the bottom of the standard bottle. Then, screw the cap hand-tight clockwise. An additional quarter turn with tools is not necessary and can damage the thread.
Before dosing, always open the small outlet flap on top of the cap first – the manufacturer's instruction "Open cap when dispensing" ensures pressure equalization between the bottle interior and the atmosphere. If the flap remains closed, a vacuum will pull the liquid back into the dip tube when pouring, and the outflow will be uneven.
Place the bottle upright, gently squeeze it on the long sides with both hands. A controlled compression of about one centimeter is sufficient – you don't need much force. The concentrate rises through the dip tube into the transparent measuring neck. As soon as the desired 5 ml mark is reached (5, 10, 15, or 20 ml), release the pressure. If there is too much concentrate in the neck, tilt the bottle and let the excess flow back into the reservoir.
Pour the measured amount into your HDPE cylinder bottle or into the mixing container. Fill with water according to the concentrate manufacturer's dilution recommendation – for Pol Star Po 1:10, it's 10 ml concentrate plus 90 ml water; for Active Foam Af 1:20, it's 5 ml plus 95 ml. Attach the spray head, shake briefly, apply.
Notes: The Dosing Cap is approved exclusively for alkaline cleaning concentrates and car shampoos. Acidic products such as Triple Acid Star "Ta", Reactive Rust Remover "Rrr" or Magic Wheel Cleaner "Mwc", as well as solvent-based products such as Spot Remover "Fw", attack the plastic of the scale and lead to measurement inaccuracies after a few applications – for these products, either use the original cap or work with an acid-resistant measuring cup. The dip tube is designed for 270 millimeters for the standard 1-liter bottle and can be shortened to around 175 millimeters with scissors for 500 ml spray containers – after shortening, ensure that the cut edge is smooth and no splinters get into the concentrate. The cap does not fit Koch-Chemie's 5-liter, 10-liter, and 25-liter canisters. After use, rinse the dip tube and cap with warm water, let them dry completely before the next use – residual moisture can cause concentrate residues to clump over a long period of inactivity. Store dry and frost-free between 5 and 30 °C. The service life is more than 100 applications with proper use.
