What is Shampoo-Teufel? A pH-neutral car shampoo concentrate from TUGA Chemie that dissolves road grime, salt, and insect residue during a two-bucket hand wash — without affecting wax or sealants. Not suitable as an insect pre-cleaner, wheel cleaner, or for use in automatic car washes.

The Shampoo-Teufel is TUGA Chemie's pH-neutral car shampoo and works with a surfactant system specifically designed for high glide and foam stability. The pH value is in the neutral range between 6 and 8 — waxes, ceramic sealants, and paint protection films remain untouched. The surface-active surfactants encapsulate the dirt particles and hold them in suspension in the foam, allowing the wash mitt to glide over the paint instead of dragging dirt across it. This is precisely the core idea of a safe hand wash: the dirt must be loosened and carried away, not spread with pressure.

• Wax and ceramic-friendly pH profile. Unlike many cheap shampoos from hardware stores, Shampoo-Teufel does not attack existing sealants. Carnauba wax, synthetic sealants, and ceramic coatings remain completely intact after each wash. This extends the lifespan of your paint sealant to what the manufacturer promises, instead of gradually washing it away with each shampoo application.
• 1:500 dilution in wash water. 20 ml of Shampoo-Teufel in 10 liters of bucket water is enough for an entire vehicle. Practical tip from Detailing1: Always pre-rinse the vehicle with clear water before washing to remove coarse dirt, never start dry. Shampoo-Teufel in the second bucket ("Wash"), clear water in the first ("Rinse"). Rinse the wash mitt in the Rinse bucket after each panel, then return it to the Wash bucket. This way, the loosened dirt ends up in the clear water, not back on the paint. Work in the shade in small sections when it's sunny or temperatures are above 25°C, otherwise the foam will dry and leave whitish streaks that you'll have to painstakingly polish off later.

Two Buckets. Cold Water. Top to Bottom.

Hand washing with Shampoo-Teufel follows the classic two-bucket principle. One bucket with clear water for rinsing the wash mitt, a second with 10 to 15 liters of water and 20 to 30 ml of Shampoo-Teufel for the actual wash. Cold water — not warm, not hot. Warm water accelerates the drying of the foam and reduces the dwell time before the dirt is completely dissolved.

First, pre-rinse the vehicle with clear water to wash off coarse road grime, sand particles, and pollen. This is the most important step to prevent micro-scratches — every grain of sand that gets into the wash mitt acts like sandpaper on the clear coat when wiping. Insect residue on the front should be pre-treated before the main wash, for example with the Insekten-Teufel — Shampoo-Teufel itself does not dissolve baked-on protein residues and would only drag dirt across the paint if you tried to wash them off with it.

Work from top to bottom in panel sections. Roof, windows, hood, and upper side panels first, then doors and fenders, finally the heavily soiled sills and bumpers. Thoroughly rinse the wash mitt in the Rinse bucket after each panel, then return it to the shampoo bucket. This keeps the wash bucket clean and the loosened dirt ends up in the clear water, not back on the paint.

The most important point when using a wash mitt: Always wipe with light pressure and in straight lines, never in circular motions. Circular motions leave visible holograms on dark paints that you can only remove later with polish. Straight lines in the direction of travel distribute any micro-scratches so that they optically disappear. Finally, rinse completely with a strong jet of water before drying the vehicle with a soft microfiber towel or compressed air. Drying is just as critical as washing itself — dried water from hard tap water leaves water spots that cannot simply be wiped away the next day.

It dissolves road grime. Not tar.

The core area of Shampoo-Teufel is road grime, salt, dust, and mineral deposits from daily driving. Winter road salt residues, pollen in spring, tire abrasion, and normal dust are reliably absorbed into the foam and removed during rinsing. This is the task of a car shampoo and what it is designed for.

Where Shampoo-Teufel reaches its limits: baked-on insect residues on the front bumper, tree sap drops from lime or pine, tar spots from fresh asphalt, and bird dropping acid stains are not a task for a pH-neutral shampoo. These contaminants require specialized pre-treatment products — Insekten-Teufel for protein residues, a resin or tar remover based on solvent for sticky adhesions. Attempting to remove these contaminants with a wash mitt and shampoo inevitably leads to micro-scratches because the hard particles rub against the clear coat when wiping.

Also excluded is use in automatic gantry or car wash systems. The foam is designed for hand washing and panel workflow, not for high-pressure circulation systems. It is suitable for use in self-service wash boxes as long as you work with a mitt and bucket — the foam nozzle of the box does not work reliably because the concentration is designed for a different application method. If you also want to use a snow foam lance with a high-pressure cleaner, use a separate pre-washer like the Teufels-Reiniger, which is designed for foam application. Another important point is the dosage: more shampoo does not mean more cleaning power, but primarily more foam formation and a longer rinsing process. At 20 ml per 10 liters of water, the surfactant system is already saturated; anything beyond that ends up in the drain and only costs product. For particularly heavily soiled vehicles after a long journey, a second pass with fresh shampoo water is more effective than overdosing in the first bucket. The choice of wash mitt also determines the result: a long-fiber microfiber wash mitt absorbs dissolved dirt better and reduces direct paint contact with particles compared to a sponge, which holds the dirt on the surface.

Shampoo-Teufel is particularly effective for use on sealed vehicles — ceramic coatings, paint protection film, synthetic sealants, or hard wax. Its neutral pH profile extends the lifespan of these protective layers to the full manufacturer's specification.
